fd luxe
fd luxe is a fashion publication distributed monthly by the dallas morning news. in september of 2005, the publication featured a photo essay about the cedars area in dallas, and the artist who live and work there.
the cedars
don't let the name fool you. art, not trees, is what gives this emerging 'hood south of downtown it's unique character.
someday, the cedars will almost surely be gentrified. but we hope not anytime soon. because what the neighborhood lacks in traditional curb appreal, it more than makes up for in converted industrial buildings spread out between old city park and southside on lamar. it's a familiar story: artists in search of cheap rent and big spaces create a community where there once was just deteriration. the pioneers arrived in the 1980's, when this failed manufacturing and warehouse district began to empty out. today the stunning oak and red cedar trees that earned this locale it's name are long gone, but the community that has taken root is gaining buzz, and collectors far beyond it's own borders.

fd luxe - fashion dallas
jennifer morgan is a dallas-based artist whose work is brightly hued with characters that dance in a light-hearted aura. her paintings are narrative with a whimsical appeal, although some address serious issues. she graduated from the university of north texas where she studied art history, marketing and painting. she implemented her first solo show in may of 2001 at the quadrangle in dallas, and is currently following her passion of creating art full-time.
